Grant Program Help for Homeless Grant Recipients

We are honored to announce the benefactors of the first-ever Help for Homeless Grant Program, totaling more than $100,000 in grants awarded. The program received an overwhelming response from well-deserving organizations throughout the country. With such a great need and so many organizations doing important work to help combat homelessness, the decision was difficult. However, we are pleased to announce 16 organizations who are receiving grants to help them continue doing outstanding work in their communities each and every day.

We thank all the wonderful organizations that applied. helps millions of people find a place to call home each year. We believe having a place to live is a basic human need, and as such we support organizations who work to help the homeless.

Over the past several years, has donated more than $120,000 to help combat homelessness through national, regional and local corporate responsibility efforts. Now, as part of the newly formed Help for Homeless Grant Program, we give not-for-profit homeless service providers nationwide the opportunity to apply for a grant—ranging in size from $500-$10,000—to help them continue the important work they do every day.

While we realize these grants won’t bring an end to homelessness on their own, our hope is that by providing an opportunity for large and small organizations to participate, we will help change a few more lives one step at a time.

Applications for the 2013 Help for Homeless Grant Program will be accepted August 1, 2013 through September 30, 2013. Grants, ranging from $500-$10,000, totaling up to $100,000, will be announced in November 2013.

Grant Criteria

The Help for Homeless Grant Program is open to programs and organizations that directly serve the needs of homeless individuals or families in the United States that are not-for-profit organizations classified as 501(c)(3) by the IRS. is accepting applications from national, regional or local market organizations beginning noon ET August 1, 2013. Organizations may apply for a grant, which will be no smaller than $500 and no more than $10,000, which will be funded based on demonstrated need.

Funding Information

The Help for Homeless grants can be utilized to fund special projects or for general operational expenses that directly support and benefit the homeless. In the application, please be specific about how your organization will utilize the Help for Homeless grant funding.

The following are not eligible for Help for Homeless grants:

  • Individuals, athletic teams or athletic sponsorships
  • Religious organizations for religious purposes, or purposes other than those benefitting the homeless
  • Rehabilitation or healthcare facilities or treatment programs (in or out-patient), or healthcare providers
  • Schools or organizations for expenses or programs that do not directly benefit the homeless
  • Fundraisers, including capital campaigns, benefits, endowment campaigns, events, etc.
  • Political causes, candidates, campaigns or organizations
  • Programs or projects that are not serving the domestic US homeless population
  • Scholarships or other direct support to individuals or families

Application Instructions

Download the application form, complete it and return it, along with a short grant proposal or executive summary that describes your organization and how the Help for Homeless grant dollars would be used to or fax to (312) 380-4254.

Applications will be accepted between noon ET August 1, 2013 through noon ET September 30, 2013. Organizations may apply for only one Help for Homeless grant per year.

Grant recipients will be announced in November 2013 and grant dollars will be disbursed to organizations before December 31, 2013.

Applications must be complete and received on time during the open application timeframe to be considered. Submitting an application does not guarantee funding.

Grant applications will be reviewed by the selection committee. Selected organizations will be notified in November 2013.

Although grant seekers are encouraged to specify an amount on the application, will make the final decision as to how much is awarded to each organization and for each grant. can eliminate any application for any reason at any point in the application or application review process. All grants are one-time gifts. Grant recipients must re-apply for consideration in future years. All request materials become the property of and will not be returned. reserves the right to determine grant qualifications and amounts. may, at its discretion, revise or terminate this program at any time. Interpretation and administration of the program, including eligibility of organizations or gift sizes, will be determined by, and decisions will be final.

If your organization is selected to receive an Help for Homeless grant, you will be required to sign a waiver authorizing, a division of Classified Ventures LLC, to use your organization’s name and logo in any promotional materials.
